IHS Classmates Current Events
New -Monthly Class Dinners by Eleanor McCown

Over the last several months, a few of our classmates have met for dinner at various places.  We have decided to meet once a month on the third Friday for dinner at 6 p.m.  Right now we are meeting at the Elk's dining room.  If we get tired of that, we can meet to other places....to be decided at the dinner the month before we switch.  All classmates are welcome to join us.  We would love to see you and your spouse/friend and reminisce about old times and new. Just call the Elk's and add your reservations to the IHS class of '62 list.

Aug. 30, 2003 - Bumper Bowling by Eleanor McCown

A good evening was had by all classmates of Ironton's Class of '62 attending the "Bumper Bowling" party.  It all started when Connie (Justice) Crowther called Mary Jane (Bushbaum) Clouse and talked about coming home for Labor Day weekend.  Connie stated that she wished to host a party for classmates at the bowling party.  So Mary Jane called and we got started on contacting classmates for the get-together.  It seemed like everyone was going away for the weekend or had already made plans.  Besides, most guys wanted to stay home and watch the Ohio State game!  But we had a few who ventured out to see what was in store.

Ok, you readers have dangled enough wondering what "bumper bowling" is.  The statement was made that we had graduated from bumper cars to bumper bowling.  Connie's brother, Greg, (who owns the bowling alley) surprised us all when he put these long bumper in the gutters so we could NOT make gutter balls!  I think someone clued him in on how long it had been since any of us bowled but it was perfect for us and a lot of fun.  Yes, Charlie managed to break 100!  A word to the wise.....if you enjoy bowling, enjoy all you can now while you are able before Arthur sets in to live with you!

July 12, 2003 - Elks Club Dinner by Eleanor McCown

Hello classmates,

First I wish to thank Dan Roy for the incentive to get as many people together as possible last Saturday night.  It was great to see those we could get in touch with on short notice and that could come to dinner at the Elk's and everyone else were sorely missed.  We all agree that we should and plan to get together for dinner at different places every couple of months or so....and in the future for those who are interested,  there is even talk for planning a trip to Las Vegas and meeting all those who migrated to sunny California for a fun weekend.  I was informed that some people still do not fly, so we need to plan this trip well in advance for those wanting to go and drive there.  And since some of us are still working, that means at least a year's advance notice so they can plan their vacation time.  Those who are interested need to start working now on this.

Now that I have thoroughly confused those who were not contacted or we could not get in touch with in time, Dan came back to our area last weekend after several years.  He contacted us and asked if it would be possible for us to get together.  Terry and I were in Virginia when he contacted us.  Upon our return to Ohio, we started contacting those who are still in our area and set up plans to get together for dinner.  And the list grew until 28 people showed up at the Elk's for dinner.  We have decided that we wish to get together every couple of months or so.  Or when someone else comes to town and wishes to see some of us.  SO, whenever you are coming to town we would love to get together for dinner someplace with you and your spouse.  Now that we have email, it should not be a problem contacting some people.  We have snail mail addresses of those who came to dinner but are not online yet and those will be sent out at a later date along with everyone who is online.

We request that anyone who has email addresses of those classmates not on our list, please email them and ask them to get in touch with us so they may be added.  We would love to include them on our list of invites when we get together.

We had a GREAT time and look forward to meeting everyone at Ruby Tuesday's in Ashland in the near future.  It was suggested that we keep the night on Saturday for those who are still working and get home late on Fridays.  Please let us know of any other suggestions as we would like for as many class members to come as possible.

Thanks again Dan and Harriet for the suggestion of getting together.
